Jonah went down to Joppa and took a ship toward Tarshish, away from Nineveh. A storm came, and a great fish swallowed him. Then he went to Nineveh. Tarshish has a question mark, because no one knows for sure where it was. The verses do not say where the storm struck, or where the fish put Jonah on land.
